As airlines compete to serve Adirondacks, Lake Clear airport struggles to stay open

Plattsburgh and Saranac Lake are seeing competition among regional airlines to serve the airports in both communities. Only one carrier will be chosen to receive millions of dollars in federal subsidies.

For the first time in a long time, local officials are faced with options in their air service. But fuel sales this year at the Adirondack Regional Airport took a big drop. This week, town residents were hit by a steep tax hike to cover the airport's operating expenses. Many are starting to wonder if they can afford to keep it open. Jonathan Brown reports.
