SUNY Potsdam responds to Albany cutbacks with job cuts

The president of the faculty union at SUNY Potsdam says no full-time employee is being forced out as the college eliminates 59 full-time positions.

Laura Rhoads said of those 59 positions, "there are people who have voluntarily decided to retire and people who have voluntarily decided they wish to leave SUNY Potsdam for other reasons."

School president John Schwaller blames Albany for the loss of these jobs. With a mounting deficit earlier this year, lawmakers cut instructional funding to every school in the SUNY system. The Potsdam campus lost $7.5 million. Jonathan Brown has more.
