St Lawrence University alum hopes to win more Gold skating for Canada in Vancouver
Canton, NY, Feb 03, 2010 — This week, we're hearing from Olympians with athletic roots here in the North Country. The region has deep ties with 12 competitors in this year's Olympic Games in Vancouver.
Gina Kingsbury skated with the Saints through her four years at St Lawrence University. After graduating in 2004, she returned to her native Canada and won a Gold Medal with the women's hockey team at the 2006 Winter Games in Turin, Italy.
Kingsbury is a forward, now living in Quebec, but training in Calgary. She just finished practice and came off the ice before talking with Jonathan Brown. She said--compared to playing with the Saints--skating with the champion Canadian Women's Team is a little different, but there are similarities, as well.
