May 17, 2010 — Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor urged graduates at St. Lawrence University yesterday to seek their passion and "live each day trying to learn as much as you can."
Sotomayor was confirmed in August as the court's first Latina justice. Speaking at St. Lawrence's 150th commencement, the justice said she's been "living a dream" in her new role.
In a speech that lasted about 10 minutes, Sotomayor focused on family. Her niece, Kiley Anne Sotomayor, was among the graduates. Sotomayor also received an honorary degree. Audio provided courtesy of St. Lawrence University.
