Listen to this story
A small army of searchers will head back out into the woods this morning, hoping to locate 22-year-old Wesley Wamsganz from Saranac Lake.

Wesley Wamsganz left work at a diner in Lake Placid Saturday and made his way to the Loj parking lot, where he was seen by witnesses.

The next day, searchers fond his Green carhart jacket on the trail between Marcy Dam and Lake Colen.  But so far, forest rangers police, state troopers, and teams of volunteers have been unable to locate Wamsganz himself.

Yesterday, state police tried to bring a helicopter into the effort, and a chopper did go up – but it was forced back to the airport by high winds over the mountains.

Late Wednesday afternoon, Conservation Department spokesman David Winchell said teams of searchers had turned up no new signs of Wamsganz.

They’re also not sure where Wamganz was going when he disappeared.  The search effort will resume today using dogs.

According to Winchell, the DEC has plenty of volunteers to fill all their search teams this morning.
