Mason resigned last September, after a partial audit report found discrepancies in the town's financials. The indictment claims that from April 2009 to September 2010, Mason falsified monthly reports that reflected the amount of money she collected for the Town.

Mason faces two felony charges and one misdemeanor charge. If convicted, Mason could be incarcerated for a maximum period of 2 and 1/3 to 7 years in state prison.
