Owens: Fema "finally got it right" in giving Clinton County individual aid
Plattsburgh, NY, Sep 02, 2011 — On Friday, FEMA approved individual federal disaster assistance for individuals in several more New York counties--including Clinton county.
Individual aid--now available to people in Clinton and Essex counties-- includes direct payments, disaster unemployment insurance, and loans from the Small Business Association.

North Country US Congressman Bill Owens says he’s delighted they "finally got it right".
"It’s been a real struggle", Owens said Friday, "but we’re delighted they’ve reversed their decision and are going to give individual aid to Clinton County."
Owens said he’s been proud of his fellow New Yorker’s actions since the storm: "I continue to
be impressed by people’s willingness to help their neighbors, and their just
incredible spirit about putting things together so their communities are
vibrant and strong.”
