North Country regional council unveils 16 priority projects
Newton Falls, NY, Nov 16, 2011 — For the first time, the North Country's Regional Economic Development Council created by Governor Cuomo has unveiled a list of priority projects. These sixteen projects that made the list are, in the Council's view, the best immediate hope for transforming the North Country's economy, and creating or saving roughly thirteen hundred jobs.
The most expensive proposal is a plan that would have the state spent $9.6 million refurbishing the railroad track to Newton Falls, a small mill town in southern St. Lawrence County. Other projects call for the state to help expand the Bombardier Plant in Plattsburgh and to support construction of more rental apartments around Fort Drum.
Brian Mann joined Martha Foley on the line to talk about the list of priority projects.
