Erickson says he’s amazed by their generosity.

"I can’t say enough about what they’ve done for us….they’ve been falling all over themselves just to try to help. They’ve gone above and beyond."

Canton college classes were canceled this week because of the fire. Most will re-start Monday. Chemistry and biology labs are scheduled to begin in St. Lawrence’s Bewkes Hall on March fifth, after spring break.

Erickson says they will complete the semester there, and possibly stay longer, depending on how quickly testing and repairs are completed at Canton College.

He says SUNY Potsdam is also helping out during the interim, providing microscopes and other equipment.

Arson has been ruled out, but no cause has been determined for the fire.
