Mar 19, 2012 — CORRECTION: Police continue a limited search for 18 year old Colin Gillis today.
According to Department of Environmental Conservation spokesman David Winchell, searchers took the day off Sunday at the request of the Gillis family, though DEC Forest Rangers did continue to assist State Police in their investigation.
Today DEC Forest Rangers are searching the water and shores of the Raquette River in kayaks, the Tupper Lake Dive Team is searching Piercefield Flow and a small group of family and friends are searching further along roadways in the area.
The college student vanished March 10 after attending a party in Tupper Lake.
On Saturday, volunteers combed a wooded area near Gull Pond. Dive teams from the Tupper Lake Volunteer Fire Department and a State Police helicopter also joined the effort. State officials say more than a thousand people contributed to the effort.
Gillis was home for spring break when he disappeared. State police are still investigating events at the party Gillis attended the night he went missing.
