Underwater powerline comment period extended
Albany, NY, May 31, 2012 — The New York State Public Service Commission has extended the public-comment period on a proposal to build a 1,000 mega-watt transmission line from the Canadian border to New York City. Champlain Hudson Power Express Inc. and CHPE Properties want permission to bury a DC line under Lake Champlain and the Hudson River.
The commission recently held a series of hearings in six counties along the proposed route. Now it's requesting comments from the public by Friday, June 29. More information about the project and how to comment is available on the commission's website.
