Stec may have competition in the 114th Assembly race
Glens Falls, NY, Jun 06, 2012 — It looks like Republican Dan Stec may have a challenger after all in the race to fill the Assembly seat being vacated by Teresa Sayward.
Stec, who serves currently as Queensbury town supervisor and chair of the Warren County board of supervisors, has been running unopposed in the 114th district.

But Sue Montgomery-Corey, chair of the Democratic Party in Essex County, says that's likely to change in the next few days. She said, “I believe there’s going to be a contest. And I can’t say a whole lot more because our candidate hasn’t announced, but we have someone who is within a few days of announcing.”
One name that's been floated as a possible Democratic candidate is Dennis Tarantino, an attorney based in Glens Falls. Tarantino sought the Assembly seat once before, running unsuccessfully against Sayward in 2004. He couldn't be reached for comment.
