Tarantino will run in the 114th
Tarantino will run against Republican Dan Stec. Earlier this year, it looked like Stec might take the seat without a contest. Tarantino, a lifelong Warren County resident, told the Post Star he would not discuss his candidacy until he makes a formal announcement at a press conference next week.
Tarantino said in the press release that he’s already received endorsements from Democratic committees in Essex, Saratoga, and Washington Counties. And the newspaper reports the Warren County Democratic Committee endorsed Tarantino Wednesday.
Stec is currently Supervisor of the Town of Queensbury. His campaign announced this week that 12 Republican members of the Warren County Board of Supervisors have endorsed his candidacy.
The new 114th Assembly District includes all of Warren and Essex counties and parts of northern Washington and northern Saratoga counties.
The seat is vacant because Republican Teresa Sayward of Willsboro is retiring at the end of the year.
