Canton Main St. detour begins next week
Canton, NY, Aug 02, 2012 — Users of Route 11 in Canton have likely noticed some traffic pattern changes in the last several weeks...and are about to see some more.
The NY Department of Transportation is doing some major work on Route 11 (Main Street in Canton) and to reduce the traffic congestion that work has caused, a detour is going into effect Monday, August 6.

The detour runs from Riverside Drive to State Street and ends at State Route 310.
The detour will remain in effect until the project shuts down for the winter, and be back in the spring. The DOT will be putting up temporary traffic signals and message boards to let people know about the detour.
The DOT says the project is intended to improve pavement conditions and storm drainage, to correct existing and emerging operational problems and safety related deficiencies, as well as to improve pedestrian and bicycle access.
