McDonald-Marchione race too close to call

North Country voters in rural Washington County could help decide a nail-biter election for state Senator Roy McDonald.

Right now the long time Republican from Saratoga County trails conservative challenger Kathy Marchione by roughly 50 votes, with more than 1,000 absentee ballots still to be counted.

McDonald was one of three Republican state senators who crossed party lines last year to vote in favor of same-sex marriage.

Another moderate Republican, Stephen Saland from Poughkeepsie, is also locked in a tight race with a more conservative challenger -- with that race also too close to call. Mark Grisanti, a third Republican senator who supported same-sex marriage, won easily in Buffalo won last night.
