Plattsburgh, NY, Sep 19, 2012 — Plattsburgh has won a $6.5-million grant to improve and expand the Plattsburgh airport. The money will be used to expand the passenger terminal and upgrade the runway.
In a statement, Senator Chuck Schumer said the money would upgrade service for travelers in the Plattsburgh and Montreal regions.
“These new infrastructure projects will create jobs," Schumer said, "and increase flights that are essential for growth in the area.”
The grant money will come from the Federal Aviation Administration.
In recent years, Plattsburgh's airport has become a popular rural hub, offering flights to Florida and other destinations. Many of the travelers using the airport come from Canada.
