Watertown, NY, Oct 04, 2012 — For the first time, Republican Matt Doheny has released an internal poll that shows him trailing Democratic congressman Bill Owens by just five percentage points in the North Country's congressional race.
That's a much narrower gap than an independent Siena Research Institute survey revealed last month. Siena's poll gave Owens a 13-point lead.
This new survey of 400 voters was conducted by Public Opinion Strategies earlier this week and was paid for by the Doheny campaign.
According to the poll, Owens leads the race with 45% of likely voters. Doheny had support from 40% of voters in the region.
