Heller said the songs recorded on their newest album are ones they have been playing together for over a decade, but never recorded until last year, when they got together in the NCPR studio. Gotham then took the raw recordings back to his home in North Carolina to have them mastered, mixed and produced for CD release.

Gotham said it is fun to play guitar duets because it is very much like a conversation. Although they know the songs and have played them a lot, the feel is different every time. There is always a spontaneous element.

Gotham’s favorite moments include Heller’s solo in Oh Come, Oh Come, Emanuel, and one of his parts during In The Bleak Midwinter. It’s rare for him to like everything on a recording; however, of All Through the Night, he said “there’s not one track on this album that I’m not totally pleased with. It’s really a good piece of work.”

The album is intended to have a genuinely "Christmassy" tone, but on the quiet and relaxing side. Gotham feels a lot of the music this time of year is over-produced, and he wanted to avoid that on this recording.
