Interim presidents appointed at SUNY Potsdam, Canton
Dr. Dennis Hefner will take the helm at SUNY Potsdam, after serving as president of SUNY Fredonia between 1996 and 2012. His annual salary will be $225,000.
Hefner replaces Dr. John Schwaller, who announced his resignation late last year.
Dr. Jeremy Brown, formerly provost and vice president for academic affairs at SUNY Canton, will be returning to the Canton college, after leading Dowling College and Edinboro University of Pennsylvania over the past five years. His annual salary will be $185,000.
In a SUNY press release, current Canton college Interim President Carli Schiffner says Brown brings a great deal of experience that will benefit both the campus and the community. "He has a deep knowledge of the College that will allow for a seamless transition," she said.
Schiffner has served as interim president since September 2012. She has accepted the position of Vice President of Instruction at Wenatchee Valley College in Washington State.
Brown has maintained a residence in Canton since 2007. He says he looks forward to his return to the College and the opportunity to lead SUNY Canton as acting president.
