The Adirondack Theatre Festival promises an exciting season of theater in the region. In addition to the world premiere of original works by both well-known and up-and-coming playwrights, this summer theater goers will participate in the production and development of brand-new shows this summer.

Perhaps this summer’s biggest attraction, Broadway’s three-time Tony-award-winning production Avenue Q promises to wow audiences with help from several members of the original direction and production crew. The original puppet-master and music director from the Broadway and Off-Broadway production will be bringing this fun show to locals and tourists this season. The Adirondack Theatre Festival will be showing top-caliber plays and readings all summer with an impressive team of actors, directors, and producers.

In addition to showing well-known shows of Broadway fame, Adirondack Theatre Festival will also introduce several brand-new exhibitions to the stage this summer, including an interactive play "reading" of a new comedic piece written by local playwright Hal Corley, who the ATF has worked closely in the past. ATF Artistic Director Mark Fleischer explains how this reading will help the playwright adapt and revise his piece. He hopes to eventually make it to the stage with a full-fledged production.

Place will play an important role in the new shows this summer, especially the world premiere of a commissioned modern piece, Filming O'Keeffe, set in Lake George about an aspiring young man who is making a film about the time painter Georgia O’Keeffe spent living with famous photographer Alfred Stieglitz.

The world premiere of John Meyer’s new musical Heartbreaker: Two Months with Judy Garland will be Thursday, July 27 at the Charles R. Wood Theatre in downtown Glens Falls.
