Jul 16, 2013 — The loss of some services at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center in Ogdensburg doesn't have to mean a loss of jobs. That's the word from New York's acting commissioner for mental health, Kirsten Woodlock.
The state announced last week that inpatient services for adults and children would be moved out of Ogdensburg. The center would maintain its sex offender treatment program, and outpatient services.
Commissioner Woodlock sent a letter late last week to State Senator Pattie Ritchie. In it, Woodlock says about half the Center's 520 employees work in programs that are being moved. She says those employees will be offered positions in facilities elsewhere in the North Country or around the state.
