41 horses seized for neglect in Essex

Forty-one malnourished horses have been seized from a property in the town of Essex in the Champlain Valley. That's according to a report in the News Enterprise newspaper.

The horses were taken into custody over the weekend by Essex County's Animal Cruelty Task Force after the sheriff's office received a complaint.

According to the newspaper, property owner Shelley Wing of Essex has been charged with forty-one counts of failing to provide sustenance for the animals in her care.

The horses were suffering from "severe" malnutrition, according to the News-Enterprise, and some had also been injured.
