Oct 16, 2013 — SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) New York's Nov. 5 referendum to expand the number of casinos in the state will be the subject of a debate at Syracuse University.
The Campbell Public Affairs Institute says the Wednesday evening debate will bring together two panels who will argue for each side and take audience questions and comments.
Arguing for the referendum will be Ken Pokalsky from the Business Council of New York State and Marc Baez from Citizens for NYS Gaming Inc. Making the case against will be Stephen Shafer from the Coalition Against Gambling in New York and David Blankenhorn from the Institute for American Values.
At the end, the audience will vote by walking out one of two doors.
