Nov 05, 2013 — We're "gaining dark" as winter approaches. That's good news for astronomer Aileen O'Donoghue. There's just more and more time to get outside and see the stars and planets now in the night sky.
On the list of highlights in her conversation with Martha Foley today: Venus in the evening (with the waxing crescent moon tonight); winter constellations Orion, notably) rising; Jupiter, Leo and Mars in the morning; and a comet, ISON, on its way this month.
(Aileen teaches physics at St. Lawrence University and stops by the NCPR studios every month or so.)
