Nov 22, 2013 — Next Monday marks a little known event in American history. On November 25, 1783, the last of the British forces departed from Manhattan and the last shot of the Revolutionary War was reportedly fired. A new book tells the story of attempts to settle and industrialize the Adirondacks after the end of the war.
Todd Moe talks with historian and author Glenn Pearsall about his book, When Men and Mountains Meet. It focuses on the history of the Adirondacks, from 1790 to 1820, when the region became a land of opportunity for businessmen and land speculators.
