BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) New York Education Commissioner John King Jr. is due in Buffalo for the latest in a series of forums on the Common Core, teacher evaluations and other reforms.

In the audience will be members of the District Parent Coordinating Council and representatives from area school districts. Members of the general public, chosen by lottery, will fill any remaining seats.

King has been traveling the state defending his department's implementation of more rigorous learning standards and assessments, saying they're necessary to prepare students for college and careers.

He's been met by critics who say the rollout has been rushed.
