Upstate NY man accused of killing estranged wife

LAKE LUZERNE, N.Y. (AP) An upstate New York man has been accused of killing his estranged wife with a knife.

The Warren County sheriff's office says 46-year-old Clifford Burns of Niskayuna was arrested after a brief car chase soon after 42-year-old Patricia Burns was attacked in her Lake Luzerne home at about 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Deputies say she died from multiple stab wounds and her 22-year-old daughter, Megan Jenkins, suffered injuries to her arms when she tried to help her mother. They say Jenkins' wounds aren't life-threatening.

Burns was arraigned on a second-degree murder charge. He's being held without bail and investigators say additional charges are expected. Court officials weren't available Wednesday to say if he has a lawyer.

Lake Luzerne is 45 miles north of Albany.
