The American fleet that helped defeat the British off Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Sept. 11, 1814, was built over the winter of 1813-1814 by thousands of shipwrights in the Otter Creek in what is now Vergennes.

While the final schedule has not been established, the plan is for the Lois McClure to tour the Champlain Valley from near Montreal south to the Hudson River and on to New York City.
