The new year brings new laws in New York, including tax cuts and a hike in the minimum wage. Assembly Speaker Sheldon SIlver wants the minimum wage to go up faster. An unusual additive is helping keep cars on snowy roads--beet juice mixed with salt water. In Saranac Lake, hikers have climbed six peaks in less than a day--in bad winter weather.
