Vermont's biggest hospital to change trustee structure

BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) Vermont's largest hospital is reducing the size of trustees that governs its operation.

Fletcher Allen Health Care announced Monday it will trim the number of trustees that oversee the operation of the Burlington-based hospital from 27 to 19.

The hospital says the move will improve operational effectiveness.

Fifteen of the board members have been elected from the boards of the four affiliated hospitals: Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, N.Y., Elizabethtown Community Hospital, in Elizabethtown, N.Y., the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin and Fletcher Allen.

Two seats are held by the president of Fletcher Allen Partners and the dean of the University of Vermont College of Medicine.

The hospitals are overseen by Fletcher Allen Partners, founded in January 2012.
