Also, Warren County district attorney Kate Hogan opted not to run in an announcement made on Friday, according to the Glens Falls Post Star.

Stefanik is a former Republican White House aide who moved to Willsboro in Essex County last year to prepare for a run against against Bill Owens, the Democratic incumbent from Plattsburgh.

Her run got a big boost last week when Owens announced that he wouldn't seek another term.

However, according to a report in Capital New York, Republican leaders have been searching for another candidate in the district.

Meanwhile, late last week, Democratic Assemblywoman Addie Russel announced that she plans to seek another term in the Assembly — and has no immediate plans to seek the House seat.
