Jan 20, 2014 — ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) A new poll shows Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo's job approval rating has improved and he has wide leads over two potential Republican challengers in the November election.
The Siena College poll released Monday found 54 percent of New York voters questioned rated Cuomo's job performance as good or excellent. That's up from 44 percent of respondents who felt that way last November. The first-term governor was also viewed favorably by 66 percent of respondents in the new poll.
The poll also found Cuomo with leads of 48 points in matchups with two potential Republican candidates for governor: Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino and Donald Trump. Both men are considering runs.
The telephone poll of registered voters was conducted Jan. 12-16 and has a margin of error of 3.4 percentage points.
