Four of the New Yorkers are members of the New York Army National Guard: bobsledders Nicholas Cunningham and Justin Olsen, and luge team member Matthew Mortensen and luge coach William Tavares.

Olsen was a member of the U.S. Bobsled that won the gold medal at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver.

The U.S. men's hockey team has six New Yorkers, including NHL stars Patrick Kane of Buffalo and Ryan Callahan of Rochester.
