Chris Mazdzer spoke with reporters after his two runs - click play above to hear his comments — and said he was pleased with his first run and disappointed by his second.

He said having a big North Country crowd on hand to cheer him on was great.  He'll compete again tomorrow and will have to pull out all the stops to make up time.

Meanwhile, Lowell Bailey from Lake Placid and Tim Burke from Paul Smiths were churning and shooting on the biathlon course for the men's 10k sprint.

The North Country anchors the biathlon squad with three of ten athletes hailing from this region.  In their first contest Bailey and Burke finished well out of podium range.

At this hour, unofficial results showed Burke finishing in 13th position, 49 seconds out of the top position.  That's a very strong finish and may bode well for future contests.

Bailey finished in an unofficial 26th position.  Bailey had two shooting errors to Burke's one.

SKI JUMPING RESULTS

Also on Saturday, Peter Frenette from Saranac Lake qualified to move forward, finishing in the first day of ski jumping competition in 35th place.

COMING TOMORROW

We'll have more luge racing with Chris Mazdzer on Sunday.

Also, Annelies Cook from Saranac Lake races in the 7.5 women's biathlon sprint tomorrow.  The men are back on the snow on Monday.
