A new face in the NY-21 race: Stephen Burke

A new candidate has jumped into the race for the 21st Congressional District seat. Stephen Burke, a current member of the Macomb Town Council and former Democratic Chairman for St. Lawrence County, says he's running.

Burke has run unsuccessfully for office repeatedly in the past, including a bid for president, for Lieutenant governor of New York, and for US Congress.

Burke told WWNY-TV that America needs a "citizen government," and he hopes to help bring that to Washington.

He will face filmmaker and seasonal Essex County resident Aaron Woolf in the Democratic primary. Elise Stefanik and Matt Doheny are facing off in the Republican primary.
