Troopers assigned to the Wells substation will patrol the towns of Wells, Lake Pleasant, Hope, Benson, Arietta, and Morehouse, as well as the village of Speculator.

The two troopers who began their new assignment in Wells on Friday will conduct both road and snowmobile patrols. Both were stationed before at the Mayfield barracks, 22 miles away.

Hamilton County is the most sparsely populated county in the eastern half of the United States.
