Fire rips through apartments in Glens Falls

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (AP) Four people have suffered minor injuries and two dozen people have been left homeless by a fire that ripped through a three-story apartment building in Glens Falls.

Witnesses tell The Post-Star that some residents jumped from second-story windows to escape Thursday night's fire. Fire Chief James Schrammel says three residents and a Glens Falls firefighter have been treated for injuries believed to be minor.

The smoky fire caused officials to temporarily evacuate neighboring buildings at the complex where the apartment building is located.

The Adirondack Saratoga Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the building's residents with finding housing.
