Lysistrata Readings Staged to Voice Opposition to War
Mar 03, 2003 — Groups around the state will perform an ancient Greek play tomorrow to protest a possible war with Iraq. The Lysistrata Project spans 56 countries. Productions in New York state will happen everywhere from a community college auditorium in Plattsburgh, an art gallery in Ithaca, a mall bookstore in Syracuse, and even a cafe in Saratoga Springs. Actors in a Buffalo production include Republicans, liberals, conservatives and peace-loving patriots. Todd Moe talks with NCPR resident theatre critic Connie Meng about project and the play.
