Police: Woman did heroin with her 2 kids in car

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) Authorities say a blaring car horn alerted police to a central New York woman who was under the influence of heroin while her two young children were inside the vehicle.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says deputies on patrol in Syracuse heard a car horn blaring around 6:15 p.m. Saturday and discovered 23-year-old Kristen Carno of Cazenovia, New York passed out in the driver's seat. Deputies say she had a hypodermic needle in her arm and several bags of the drug were found in the vehicle.

Police say Carno's kids, ages 1 and 2, were in the car. They've been turned over to relatives.

Carno was charged with possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child. She's being held in the county jail. It couldn't be determined if she has a lawyer.
