What dairy princesses love about their work

Listen to this story
People from all over St. Lawrence County gathered in Canton last weekend to celebrate the 50th annual Dairy Festival.

On Saturday, the village park filled up with food vendors, a petting zoo, a bouncy house for kids. Dairy groups and equipment suppliers set up booths.
As always, there was a real hometown parade, featuring the just-crowned dairy princess and her court.

And this year, in honor of the 50th anniversary, about 20 former princesses turned out, too. You couldn't miss them: they wore matching hot pink T-shirts with a cartoon Holstein and the legend: "Once a princess always a princess."

NCPR's summer intern Kelly Bartlett caught up with this year's Princess, Jennifer King, and former Princess Hannah Peck.
