Cuomo says GMO food labeling not part of session talks in Albany

Governor Cuomo says there are no concrete talks underway in Albany that might lead to new regulations requiring labels on genetically modified foods.

Some lawmakers and activists want a policy in New York similar to the one now being implemented in Vermont that offers consumers more information about GMO ingredients.

But Cuomo says that issue hasn't been part of the agenda as the clock winds down on this session.

"You know, that is another devil in the details; what’s on the label? What are the specifics? We are not having leadership conversations on that at this time," Cuomo said. "There’s three days, we still could, but we’re not at this time."
