Commentary: Tax Cuts and Hope
Apr 03, 2003 — In Washington, lawmakers continue to wrangle over President Bush's proposed $726 billion in tax cuts. The senate voted to support half that amount as the country is at war and faces a record-setting deficit. Many Democrats have said cuts will disproportionately benefit the rich. Commentator Jill Vaughan says that argument isn't likely to engage the North Country's poor, because the issue seems far away and irrelevant.
