Aug 01, 2003 — It's the height of boating season. On the St. Lawrence River, roaring cigarette boats and fishing boats share the water with kayakers, antique skiffs, and swift sailboats. Last summer David Sommerstein hitched a ride on the Gypsy Wind sailboat in Chippewa Bay to follow in the wake of rumrunners and other river rats.
