Sep 16, 2003 — Since last year, the Akwesasne Mohawk reservation that straddles the U.S.-Canada border near Massena has been plagued by a rash of suspicious fires. No one has been injured, but dozens of buildings have been torched, some several times. New York state police, Ontario provincial police, and tribal police are investigating the incidents. David Sommerstein talked with Frank Lacerenza, chief of the Hogansburg-Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department. He says the arsonists haven't restricted their acts to one part of the reservation.
