Nov 21, 2003 — Feelings about the New York National Guard's activation for Iraq are running high. But they're often conflicting: fear and anger, but also pride and patriotism. Commentator Molly Ames finds it hard to sort out. Her son, Mike, is 21. He joined the National Guard between his junior and senior years in high school. Since September 2001, he's guarded a nuclear power plant and New York City's subways. This is his third deployment - and the most challenging for everyone involved.
