On an Adirondack Lake, a Private Crusade Against Watermilfoil
Aug 09, 2004 — This summer, more than a dozen scuba divers have fanned out across Upper Saranac Lake, in the Adirondacks. They're searching for underwater beds of an invasive plant called Eurasian watermilfoil. Organizers of the project hope to prove that the weed can be contained before it chokes miles of shoreline. As Brian Mann reports, the one-and-a-half-million dollar experiment is being funded entirely by private donors.
