Nov 03, 2004 — A St. Lawrence County teenager won top honors at a national horticulture contest this fall. 16-year-old Ana Best, of Russell, took first place in the honors division at the National Junior Horticulture Association's annual plant contest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. More than two hundred people from 21 states attended the convention. The contest involves the identification of fruits, vegetables, trees, flowers, judging the quality of horticultural products and a written test. As Todd Moe found out, there are dozens of different items that participants are responsible for knowing.
