Defining "Moral Values"

The pivotal role of so-called 'moral values' in the presidential election has sparked a national debate on what the term means. Over the weekend, Karl Rove, President Bush's senior political adviser, said on Fox News it gives the President a mandate to ban marriage of same-sex couples nationwide. Former Vermont Governor Howard Dean told a Dartmouth College crowd Sunday that Democrats must do a better job at "sticking to their own values" rather than becoming more conservative. David Sommerstein asked people at The Place restaurant in Ogdensburg what 'moral values' means to them and how those beliefs may affect future elections.
