NY Republicans Elect New Leader
Nov 16, 2004 — New York Republicans have selected Rochester-area G-O-P leader Stephen Minarik to head the party's state organization. At a meeting in Albany yesterday, they picked the Monroe County Republican chairman to rally the party in the aftermath of several major Election Day setbacks. Minarik succeeds Sandy Treadwell, of Essex county, who has been given a national G-O-P committeeman's seat. The move at the top comes amid grumblings from high-profile Republicans who say their party has lost direction and needs to get back on course. Minarik told Michael Caputo, of WXXI-TV in Rochester, that his goal is to unite the New York Republicans after the 2004 election.
