Jul 05, 2005 — When a Catholic woman becomes a nun, she joins a community - a sisterhood. But what happens when the sisters have all gone away? There's a nationwide trend: the number of priests and nuns is declining, and it's hit rural areas particularly hard. In Tupper Lake, the Daughters of the Holy Spirit used to run the Catholic school. The school closed three years ago and the convent only has one sister left. Reporter Gregory Warner spent an afternoon with that sister -- Sister Gertrude Clemers, the "last nun" of Tupper Lake. He sent us this postcard.
